He is perhaps best known for being the force behind introducing Public Enemy to the world and bringin' the noise by taking production to the next level with his BOMB SQUAD productions and landmark albums such as It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back and Fear Of A Black Planet, two albums which consistently rank high amongst most of the 'greatest albums of all time' lists such as those by Rolling Stone, Spin, Pitchfork, VH1, Vibe, Mojo, NME, The Village Voice and many others.
Recognized as a sonic architect, Shocklee takes his audio very seriously and has worked with and developed a large variety of artists and musicians across many genres. Hank brought the art of sampling to the forefront by creating techniques such as filtering, multiband micro-loop sampling, introducing the use of sine waves to create kick drums and bass lines, truncating and mapping samples on keyboards and drum machines and using tuning to create warping in the late 80's - early 90's.
As a champion of electronic music worldwide, Shocklee is always experimenting with sound and seeking new and innovative ways to transform the audio arts. Currently he is developing a series of multimedia projects which he calls the Future Frequency via his NYC based company Shocklee Entertainment most recently releasing the BOMB SQUAD: Tactical Beats and Sample Artillery sample pack and coming soon is also a BOMB SQUAD album project.
Hank states, "Cerwin Vega is known for its classic sound system earthquake sound. The depth, clarity and accuracy of the system is something very important to me when I'm creating a live show environment and the bass is massive"
